About Barcelona:
Barcelona has emerged from a spotty history. With Castilian kings pumping cannonballs over the city walls and anarchists disagreeing on which shoulder to hang their rifles, the city shrank in the shadow of greater cities and powers for centuries.Though founded around 230 BC, likely by the Carthaginians, and invaded by the Visigoths and then the Muslims, the history of the city, in a sense, only truly began after armies from what is now France pushed back the Muslims in 801 AD.

Events of Barcelona :

Festival delgrec :A great summer arts festival featuring theatre, dance, music, and performance art, taking place in the greek amphitheatre on Montjuïc, in Poble Espanyol, in Plaça del Rei, in Palau de la Musica and in other outdoor parks around Barcelona. FESTA MAJOR DE GRCIA :All throughout the funky Gràcia neighbourhood, Metro Fontana, with dancing, food, drink, fireworks, and local streets competing for the best and most elaborate decorations.

TROBADA CASTELLERA
:
Ever seen a child standing on a man's shoulders... while he is balancing high in the air on a tower of men six people high? It's nothing short of amazing and worth a gawk. The casteller groups come from all around Barcelona and the region to build their human towers in Plaça Catalunya during this festival.

Information of Whether :
Barcelona enjoys a Mediterranean climate, and because of its proximity to the sea the weather is generally mild. The best time of year is early summer (May and June) when the heat and humidity are not yet oppressive and temperatures hover around 24C. Later in the summer (July and August) the humidity increases, and since there is rarely rain the city can become quite hot. Days are long, with daylight lasting up to ten hours a day.

Information of Currency :
With the Euro now in use, many Barcelona natives complain of a quickly rising cost of living. Exchange rates will vary, but in general prices here benefit travellers from the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Scandanavia, etc. Groceries, restaurants, bars, and clothing tend to be less expensive while electronics tend to be more expensive.
Euro bills come in denominations of 5, 10,20, 50, 100, and 500€, while coins are of 1, 2, 5, 10, and 50 centimos (1/100). The best exchange rates are usually found using a credit card or bank card, though there is often a 300€ withdrawal limit per day from bank machines.
